My name is Gucci and I own one of the Directors of TEAM Dog Rescue, Nancy and she is responsible for our Facebook page and is the voice of the rescue dogs in our care as shared on social media. She loves dogs, and has been passionate about helping them since she was a little girl.
She originally had a keen interest in disaster Animal response from her previous work for Japan after 311, but she redirected her attention to assist locally upon realizing how many wonderful canines find themselves homeless in our local shelter systems. She wanted to put an end to their plight and she has been a Director of TEAM since November 2012.
I'm Charlie and I'm a very spoiled Cockalier. My mom, Laura, rescued me from a kill shelter in Quebec 3 years ago and brought me home as her first foster dog. She had already been a Director of TEAM for some time, but I think her rescue work has vastly improved since my good influence. When I arrived, I had a sassy attitude and insecurity problems - but my mom saw through it to the sweet little guy I am.
We went to lots of training classes, she helped me socialize with other dogs and taught me agility. I'm a much happier pup for it. That's what I love most about my mum, she sees the good in every dog and helps anyone in need. I just wish she'd stop bringing them home, I like being the centre of attention!
My name is Ollie and I am a TEAM Dog Rescue alumni from North Carolina. And I own Larysa, she is a founding Director of TEAM Dog Rescue and remains an honourary Director to this day. However, it seems that she fell for the charms of cats in her rescue journey, and Team Cat Rescue was born where she spends most of her time, but that is not to dismiss dogs! Oh no, she can be found everyday at Park9, as the Manager of this out of this world daycare located minutes from Pearson airport so she spends ample time at work, and lucky me, I get to go with her.
Penny here! I want to introduce you to my mom, Lindsay. She manages T.E.A.M.’s foster program and makes sure all the dogs have a comfy place to crash until their forever family comes along. My mom started off in rescue by fostering cats while she was in university. When she moved to Toronto, she started fostering dogs with T.E.A.M. and quickly decided she wanted to be more involved. My mom has a soft spot for street dogs. She had to resist the urge to feed and pet every stray dog she encountered on her South East Asia backpacking trip. Luckily, I am irresistible and she decided to bring me home from Mexico in 2015! Now we cuddle on the couch and watch Netflix, play with the laser pointer, do agility and go camping. I love Canada (except the cold)!
My name is Lao and I’m 17 years young. My mom, Ashley, is in every sense of the word a crazy dog lady (in a non radical way). She has been with TEAM Dog Rescue since its inception in 2012 and does a little bit of this and a whole lot of that. Her primary focus is helping with adoptions, organizing events and acting as the Instagram guru. Her goal over the next year is to drive TEAMs #THINKRESCUE campaign, create programs that teach children responsible pet ownership and work closer with the community to grow the organization. Outside of TEAM she loves to travel. She has witnessed firsthand the dire situation of street animals around the world which inspired her efforts to assist worldwide animal welfare organizations. Prior to joining TEAM, she spent time volunteering with animal groups in Mexico, Central America and Africa as well was a dog walker at Toronto Animal Services. When she isn’t helping animals she is chasing a toddler around and working at her paying job. My mom adopted Winston the pug a few years back and encourages families everywhere to #thinkrescue first when considering welcoming a pet.
My name is Lola, and I'm a very lucky girl, I have a home, a family and a mommy that loves me so much. My mum' s name is Jackie, and sometimes she gets really busy, she tells me it's because she is trying to help some dogs who aren't as lucky as me, find families that will love them just like mine loves me. My mum says that some dogs are so sad, she says its because they are hurt, hungry, and homeless, and this makes her sad. My mum loves all animals but she says, I'm her special baby, which makes me really happy. My mum is something called an adoption coordinator, and she and a group of amazing ladies are with a group called T.E.A.M dog rescue and they help these sad dogs find families. I'm not sure how she does it, but sometimes she comes home smelling like other dogs, ok I'll be honest I do get a bit jealous sometimes but I'm happy my mommy wants to help these dogs. I can't imagine not having a family and being all alone in the world, so I forgive my mom for being busy sometimes. She says her dream is, that one day all the dogs in the world will have homes and families that love them, because that's all a dog wants in the whole entire world is to be loved. I really hope her dream comes true!
Hi everyone! It's Annie here! Our Mom was born just an hour and a bit shy of January 1 so she wasn't the New Year's baby in Montreal that year. The Hospital staff gave her a pink stuffed dog for being pretty close, and she still has it! Just like I still have Gingerbread Man and Carly has her favourite frisbee! Mom has loved dogs right from the start, and has always been able to talk to us.
She likes to stay busy, so when she isn't working, being Mom to our Boy, trying to find photography subjects - which is usually Carly and me - or hiking with us, she loves to give freedom rides to rescue dogs, and work miracles with the TEAM team to find them amazing homes. She has been volunteering in the community for over 25 years and thinks rescue dogs are the best! #thinkrescue
CHARITABLE GIVING MANAGER
Hi, my name is Themba as I’m sure you already know since I like to frequent the TEAM Facebook page. I rescued Jess 2 short years ago and it was the best thing I ever did. Back then she was a foster for TEAM and if I’m being honest, I don’t know how she did it without me. Jess is my better half, HA! just kidding, have you met me!? But in all seriousness she’s pretty great and I try to stay by her side as much as possible, even when she works with kids as a behavioural therapist. As an avid traveller and adventurist Jess tries to take me on all her fun adventures. I’m so thankful she was my foster mom and that she finally came to her senses and adopted me, because I knew from day one we were meant to be. Now that she is an adoption coordinator she can help other people find their better halves too!
My name is Zoey. My mom Gillian is one of the Adoption Coordinators for TEAM Dog Rescue. Her job is to make sure that dogs in need find loving and committed homes. My mom has adored animals since the day she was born but her special love for dogs began when her dog Bobby was adopted from a local animal shelter. He brought so much joy into her world. Years later, she realized that she could help other homeless dogs through transporting, fostering and fundraising. This is how she met our friends at TEAM and became part of the rescue crew. My mom always tells me that dogs bring unconditional love and enjoyment to people’s lives and that’s why she is dedicated to helping dogs find furever homes. She knows they all deserve to be as loved and cared for as I am. “If you haven't loved a dog, part of your heart hasn’t opened”.
I’m Josie. Bettina is my mom. She keeps track of the money and pays the bills. I hate writing. I prefer going to the park to play fetch.
Hi! My name is Charlie. My mom is Ashley, and she spends a lot of her time out of the house (she tells me she goes to this place called "work") and between that and spending time with me, she can be found on the computer! That's because she is busy creating websites for people like T.E.A.M. to help get all the doggies adopted! Sometimes when I feel like she hasn't petted me in awhile, or maybe that I want to go out for a walk, I grumble loudly at her to get her attention and she always listens! My mom tells me she is a Graphic Designer who has a special passion for web design and helping others (humans, dogs, or anything at all with paws). She hopes one day that all dogs can find a wonderful home, and that a lonely human will be able to experience a special bond like the one me and her have!
My name is Jethro & like too many unfortunate animals, I had a rough start. Sad things happened to me & I landed in a kill shelter. When I was afforded a second chance in this big world it was like winning the lottery. Out of all of the great shelter animals, I just happened to be one of the lucky ones who made it out alive. A rescue group saved me & found me a human of my very own, named Amy. We have made lots of friends together, especially dogs who have come to stay with us while they wait for a human of their own. Life has taught me that although some people can be scary or mean, most people are really wonderful. I especially love my human & I know she loves me A LOT too! We don't agree on everything (like what/when I should eat) but we both really want to make sure that there are many more "lucky ones" like me who get a second chance or better yet, a good start! Hopefully you agree & that's why you're here! Please get involved!
In 2013 Moe made the journey from a South Carolina to a toronto, Canada. He spend a month pondering on what his life has in store, what was his ideal family. Then, he met Amber. Moe not only gained a new mom, but a best friend and fur sister, Penny. Since his adoption, Moe has played the role of Foster brother to over 20 Foster dogs, he's happy to share his home and person with all of the pups that need a place to stay on their journey to their furever home.
My name is Mr B, the frosty-faced gentleman, and my sidekick is Lucy, my much younger girlfriend. Our mom is Terri, one of the newer Adoption Coordinators for TEAM. Terri has been volunteering for TEAM for two years now, initially fostering, and we are the result of that hard work, although what was hard? We were home as soon as Terri set eyes on our natural beauty, so we are now known as "foster fails". We both came from northern communities and were outside our entire lives until we were brought south, although a year apart. Despite our rural beginnings, it didn't take long to learn how to be great indoor dogs and the benefits of big city living.
Our mom has been passionate about dogs since she was a little girl, and currently divides her time between city and country. We are lucky enough to get driven all over southern Ontario. Sometimes we can tell that there have been other dogs in OUR backseat! But only when she leaves us at home to transport another pup from shelter to foster home or a specific leg of further transport. We forgive her this indiscretion as she tells us that she wants these pups to have it as good as we do.
I'm Coco and Julia is my human. She's been mine since I was a puppy and even when I hit the double digits (my age, not my weight ... ok my weight too!), we've been inseparable. Given my ripe age of almost 12, I've given my human a lot of scares. I'm on threw different eye drops for my chronic dry eye - have a permanent wink ;) - and other medications for my enlarged heart and seizures. Even after all of this, my human would never not squeal when she sees a senior puppy. Just as much as she has been there for me, I have been there for her - hitting the books for her undergrad and graduate schools, heartbreaks, love, depression, marrying my dad, and many more.
My human says that the love and bond we share should be experienced by everyone, so she's here to help the doggies and their furever families out! When she's not doing this or giving me loads of scratchies, she's working as a senior analyst for the province. Ooh squirrel!
Hi! Our names are Mojo and Stella and this is our mom Kirsten. Both of us were rescued and we are so happy she helped us. Kirsten has always rescued animals, but she has a soft spot when it comes to dogs in need that have had a rough start in life. Kirsten started working as a foster mom at TEAM in August of 2016. She already has welcome lots of dogs into our home!!! We love it because she shows them that there are some really good people that will love and take care of them. Kirsten is now an adoption coordinator, so she gets to interview people to make sure all of the dogs get the perfect forever home! Our mom loves all her foster dogs and is always so sad when they leave. I guess she doesn't get that sad because there is always another dog that comes and stays with us for a little while. Our mom tells us how lucky she is to work with such nice woman, that think like her. If you ask us, we are pretty lucky to have all of TEAM looking out for so many dogs in need of some love and care. My mom says this is the best job ever, but personally we think she has too much fun for it to be a job.
