Meet this handsome dude Sam. Although 10 years old, you wouldn’t know it!
He comes with experience and his years of learning aren’t over. Sam is eager to please and has been following direction well, although he can certainly benefit from some minor leash work, as he does pull to meet up with many friendly dogs. However, he is being fostered in a very busy area of Toronto, which is full of stimuli with plenty of action all around. He isn’t anxious but curious and ever alert.
Sam is full of beans and is just so happy to be with his people. He has a resident cat in his foster home whom he ignores, but is always curious if the cat gets into something or starts to hunt. He has adapted very well to his foster family schedule and doesn’t make any demands. Rated with a medium to low energy level, one good long walk a day, along with several pee breaks satisfies his needs. In fact, currently his long walk is in the morning and that puts Sam to bed for most of the day, although ever aware of what mom is doing. Upon initial meeting, Sam is just so happy to receive some attention, and will roll over for a belly rub and then just curl up at your feet.
Since his release from the shelter, Sam is enjoying his new life immensely. Foster mom works from home so he has company most of the time, and wants to be close by. He is a great couch snuggle buddy and also sleeps with his foster parents. Sam is somewhat anxious in the car, but once he is on a passengers lap and can see out the window, he is just fine.
Sam has a few medical needs: allergies resulting in poor coat condition/rash and an ear infection. A change of diet and meds have shown remarkable improvement this last week and we will continue to monitor this condition.
Sam is due to have a good groom soon so will look like he is dressed for the upcoming party season. If you are looking to add a smaller, lower energy dog who loves to be close by his people, and can offer years of devotion, then look no further. Sam is your man.
